Domaine Didier Montchovet “Bourgogne Grand Ordianaire” Burgundy, France 2008

Palate shows light and strawberries with peppery aromas on the nose with rose pedals. This is 100% Gamay Noir grown in clay limestone soil and vines are about 50 years old. Ready to drink.

Domaine de la Patience Merlot Vin De Pays de Gard 2008

This dark red colored wine have a rich bouquet with all nuances of ripe grapes : spices, liquorice and subtle nuances of grilled hazelnut. With a riche palate and well-structured with a good persistence returning. Alice Feiring described as “A Merlot that is woodsy with a nice dollop of tar and edge, reminds me of a great 1970’s Zinfandel.”

Alice Feiring is the author of The Battle for Wine and Love: or How I Saved the World from Parkerization

Domaine Rimbert Les Travers de Marceau Saint-Chinian 2007

In the current vintage, more Syrah than in years past. 40%. Perhaps it’s the Syrah, perhaps the character of the vintage, but this year’s Marceau is edging toward the blacker fruit flavor profile with more prune, earth and leather.

Domaine Des Anes “The Two Asses” Corbiere Premier Pas 2005

A biodymic wine. A blend of Carignan 80% and Grenache 20%. It has rich and deep purple color with fruity, black cherry, a little bit of barnyard on the nose and musky as it opens up. It has black berries with bit of anise on the palate but not as complex yet simple wine that will pair well with foods.

Chateau La Bouscade Minervois 2005

Chateau La Bouscade is in the Minervois region of the Languedoc-Roussillon, France. Produced by David Cowderoy who won30 International Awards is dedicated to producing some of the finest wines of the area. It has Blackcurrant and casis fruit flavours with light vanilla finish on the palate. This is a good food wine.

L’amourvedre-Mont Caume-2007

Origin of Spanish Monastrell grape called Mourvedre in France is a slow-ripening variety that develops tight bunches of grapes that need good ventilation to avoid rot. It seems to do best in windy climates like Mont Caume. Widely used as a blend, this is a dominant Mourvedre with high tanins and black currant with toasty medium to light bodied wine. Little bit of cinnamon and thyme on the nose with black berries. In California it’s also known as Mataro.

Chenin Blanc-Domaine Jo Pithon-Anjou-2005

This wine has a light golden color with hint of ginger, honey suckle and stewed apple on the nose. Palate show a lot of promises with well balanced structures of fruit, waxy texture, honey, and almonds with salty lingering finish. It’s one of my favorite wines in my cellar.
